Although Atlantic Records was founded in the late 1940’s, it was during the late 1950’s and 1960’s that the label really came of age. During this period, the label’s roster was nothing short of a ‘Who’s Who’ in the soul and R&B world with legends including Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Sam & Dave and Ray Charles, making some of the most famous songs of the era. Atlantic Gold is a triple album covering the best of the label during its classic soul years.
